“ Kris Myers, originally from Palatine, Illinois, is an American musician.He is the drummer for the Chicago-based progressive rock band Umphrey's McGee. He joined the band in 2003, replacing original drummer Mike Mirro. He first appeared on disc with Umphrey's McGee on the 2003 live album Local Band Does OKlahoma. Myers also appeared on the critically acclamied Umphrey's Mcgee album, Anchor Drops in 2005.
After completing his undergrad education at Elmhurst College, Myers earned a masters degree in jazz drumming from DePaul University. He was a member of jazz/funk group Kick the Cat up until his tenure with Umphrey's McGee began in 2003.
Myers is also a member of the transfusion jazz/drum and bass trio Drop Q. Myers is also a member of a Pink Floyd/Beatles cover band called, "Brain Damaged Eggmen". This band consists of fellow Umphrey's band mates Jake Cinninger and Brendan Bayliss, and also Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner from close friend jam band Disco Biscuits.
Myers is an endorser of Pearl drums, and Vic Firth. Myers uses Pearl drums and pedals, Vic Firth drum sticks, Roland SPD-S, Sabian cymbals, and Zildjian cymbals in his live setting and studio setting.
